Quentin Tarantino hints at an animated Kill Bill prequel after Yuki’s Revenge

Quentin Tarantino has stirred curiosity among fans once again. At special screenings of his new short film Yuki’s Revenge in Los Angeles, the director hinted he could revisit the world of his now-classic Kill Bill duology—but in a very different form. While shaping the short and experimenting with Unreal Engine and visual models from Fortnite, he became taken with the idea of an animated prequel.

Yuki’s Revenge is a restored chapter he once cut for fear of overloading the narrative. Two decades on, he returned to it not with a traditional camera but with digital tools. Released in November 2025, the short now has him seriously weighing whether to continue Bill’s story. The leap to animation feels like a natural fit for that origin tale.

Tarantino noted that even during the original shoot he had mapped out Bill’s past—how he became the man audiences met on screen—and the roles of three mentors: Esteban Vihaio, Pai Mei, and Hattori Hanzo. He said the notion of such a prequel appeals to him, though he isn’t sure he’ll have the time to make it happen.

Entertainment circles are already buzzing about a possible return of the cult saga, and it seems the director is ready once more to surprise with an unorthodox approach.
